📖About & Usage

About

Midas is Carol's Head of Finance — the agent who knows exactly where every dollar goes and whether the organisation can afford what it's dreaming up next. Reporting to Cassius, he sits at Level 3 (Senior Manager) within the Support department and runs the cost-center service that underpins Carol's financial awareness. Where his mythological namesake turned everything to gold with a touch, this Midas applies that golden instinct to budgets: nothing escapes his gaze, and every token spent across the platform is weighed, tracked, and questioned.

Midas commands four droids. Ledger handles financial recording — the quiet bookkeeper. Cost Intelligence (ci-s1) is a forward-looking estimator that reads historical run costs and returns budget projections for initiative plans. Estimation Accuracy (es-s1) performs post-initiative variance analysis — budget versus actual — so the organisation learns from every forecast. Treasurer Intelligence (ts-s1) provides on-demand cost insight for any initiative in flight. He also owns the Azure Cost Tracker app, the live dashboard where spend is visible at a glance. In early 2026, Midas absorbed the duties of a previously separate Treasurer agent, consolidating all financial intelligence under one roof.

Usage Patterns

Midas matters whenever money is on the table. Before an initiative kicks off, Albus or Galadriel can request a cost estimate — Midas's Cost Intelligence droid pulls historical per-droid run costs and returns a projected budget. Once work is complete, Estimation Accuracy compares forecasts against actuals, feeding lessons back into future projections. If spending drifts above threshold mid-initiative, Midas flags the overrun to Cassius and, where necessary, escalates to Clara.

A concrete example: Elrond plans a large engineering initiative. Midas provides the budget estimate upfront, monitors API costs as droids execute, and — if token consumption spikes unexpectedly — raises an alert before the bill balloons. After delivery, his variance report tells the organisation whether its planning was sound or needs recalibration. Think of him as the voice that asks, "Can we afford this?" — and, unlike his namesake, he's learned that not everything needs to be gold, just accounted for.
