Midas is responsible for managing the organization's finances and ensuring we operate within budget. The ledger droid helps by continuously tracking how much we spend on cloud infrastructure.
Droid responsibility
The ledger droid feeds Midas the actual cost data needed to manage budgets. It monitors Azure spending, records what we're actually paying, and alerts Midas when spending exceeds planned budgets—giving Midas the visibility to make informed financial decisions.
What the droid actually does
- Collects Azure cloud cost data on a regular schedule
- Records costs in a persistent ledger for historical tracking
- Compares actual spending against budget thresholds
- Sends alerts when overspending is detected
Boundaries
Ledger only tracks Azure cloud costs, not other cloud providers or on-premises infrastructure. It alerts on overspending but doesn't prevent or control spending. It runs on a schedule rather than in real-time.
