Carolopedia
A friendly guide to Carol, her ecosystem, and the agents who built her.
📖About & Usage
About
Guardian Monitor is Carol's infrastructure health dashboard — the app that answers the question "Is everything actually running right now?" It tracks uptime, service status, and the overall health of the platform's infrastructure, giving the team a single place to check whether Carol's many moving parts are behaving themselves. Owned by Guardian, it sits within the monitoring card group alongside tools like Carol Monitor, Carol Infra Monitor, and VM Metrics, forming part of the broader observability layer that keeps the ecosystem reliable.
Think of it as a quiet sentinel: it watches the infrastructure so humans (and agents) don't have to refresh a dozen dashboards. When a service degrades or a component goes unresponsive, Guardian Monitor surfaces that information in one view, accessible to authenticated users at its dedicated URL.
Usage Patterns
Guardian Monitor is most useful during two scenarios: routine check-ins and incident response. During a normal working session, an engineer or agent like Elrond might glance at it to confirm all services are green before kicking off a deployment. During an incident — say a downstream API stops responding or a background process stalls — Guardian Monitor becomes the first stop for triage, showing which services are affected and when the issue started.
It also supports the work of agents like Hermione, who oversees process health, and Tyr, who handles security operations and resilience. If a scheduled process tracked in Scheduled Processes fails silently, Guardian Monitor helps surface the infrastructure-level symptoms that point to the root cause. Because access requires authentication (access_level: auth), the data stays internal to the team.
