📖About & Usage

About

Admin Monitor is Carol's behind-the-scenes traffic dashboard — a single pane of glass that shows visit logs across Carol Apps, BB Apps, Carol Bio, and Carolopedia. Think of it as the quiet observer that records who visited what, and when, so the admin team never has to guess how the ecosystem is being used.

Owned by Orion, Admin Monitor is strictly admin-only: regular users won't see it in their navigation, and it won't appear unless you have the right access level. It exists because running a growing constellation of apps means someone needs to keep an eye on traffic patterns, spot anomalies, and understand real usage — without having to dig through raw server logs.

Usage Patterns

Admin Monitor is a passive, always-on tool rather than something triggered by a specific event. It continuously collects visit data, making it useful in several scenarios:

  • Daily health checks — an admin glances at the dashboard to confirm apps are receiving expected traffic and nothing has quietly gone dark.
  • Investigating oddities — if a user reports trouble reaching Carolopedia or Carol Bio, the admin can pull up visit logs to see whether requests are arriving at all, or whether the problem lies elsewhere.
  • Usage reporting — when the team wants to know which apps are popular and which are gathering dust, Admin Monitor provides the raw evidence.

For example, if Radagast notices that frankfurt-food has had zero visits for three days, that's a signal worth investigating — maybe a routing change broke access, or maybe it's simply a quiet week. Either way, Admin Monitor surfaces the data so the right conversation can happen.

🛰️Updates

Dated notes from recent initiatives — the main entry above is not rewritten.

Fix2026-07-04

Admin Monitor's Admin Monitor uniform bar colour on the Total visit time chart was unblocked and retriggered to succeed thanks to RSI diagnosis (RSI Diagnosis).

Change2026-07-04

Admin Monitor now highlights the selected day bar in a darker blue when clicked, making the selection visually obvious. This update applies to the Total visit time per day chart in Admin Monitor.

Change2026-07-04

The Total visit time per day chart in Admin Monitor now uses a uniform blue colour for all per-visitor stacked segments, making each day's bar appear solid while retaining stacking and click drill-down functionality.

Fix2026-06-27

Improved visit duration tracking and unique-visitor deduplication in admin statistics. Implements heartbeat-based measurement with persistent visitor_id cookies, providing reliable metrics and accurate unique-visitor counts separate from total page views.

Fix2026-06-27

Admin Stats listing now auto-refreshes when page filter changes and features a persistent fixed-height scrollable box for improved navigation.

Fix2026-06-26

The Stats tab day bar click behavior is now a toggle: selecting a day bar again deselects it and hides the visitor listing, rather than re-rendering the same view.
