📖About & Usage
About
Hermione Monitor is Carol's process-watching eye — the app that makes sure things actually worked. Owned by Hermione, it sits in the monitoring card group alongside tools like Sentinel Monitor and Carol Monitor, but its focus is narrower and more hands-on: it tracks whether operational processes completed successfully, reviews their outcomes, and kicks off remediation when something goes sideways.
Think of it as the difference between a smoke detector (which just alerts) and a building manager (who checks what happened, decides if it's serious, and calls the right crew). Hermione Monitor is the building manager. It gives Rhea and the wider operations team a single place to see what ran, what passed, and what needs fixing — without digging through logs spread across multiple services.
Usage Patterns
Hermione Monitor is most useful after scheduled or triggered processes have finished running. For example, imagine a nightly data-sync pipeline completes but returns partial results. Hermione Monitor would flag the incomplete outcome, surface the relevant details for review, and — depending on the rules in place — either suggest or automatically trigger a remediation step such as a retry or an escalation to Merlin for manual intervention.
Day-to-day, operations staff access it at its dedicated URL to review process health across Carol's ecosystem. It complements broader dashboards like Carol Monitor (which covers system-wide health) by zooming in on operational outcomes specifically — did the thing we asked for actually happen the way we expected? When the answer is "no," Hermione Monitor is where the recovery conversation starts.
